Laurie & Ken grew up in Denver, Colorado.
They are mostly known for their unique blend of vocals, violin, and guitar.
In performance, Laurie & Ken present a balance of original songs and their favorite covers. Their influences include Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bruce Cockburn, Laurie Dunklee, Carole King, John Lennon, Ken Lutes, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Sarah Vaughn, Lucinda Williams, and Brian Wilson. Oh, and Bo Diddley.
Individually, they have been in many local bands—Tin Pan Alley, Tanglewood, Breckenridge, The (infamous) Echo Band, and, of course, Puppet Camp.
As a duo, Laurie & Ken perform in local coffee shops, night clubs, and for private parties.
Since 2003, they have taken a shine to learning and playing swing music in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.
