The following
four samples have been converted to high-quality .mp3 files, for faster loading.*
Still, downloading speed will depend upon your internet connection and processor
speed.
1. Jazz lovers will
be delighted to hear their many LP favorites restored without all the crackles
and pops, Here's
the Johnny Smith Quintet performing 21 seconds of "Moonlight in Vermont:"
| "Moonlight" Before | "Moonlight" After |
Fortunately, this piece
is available on CD, but if it weren't, it could be made listenable
once more!
2. Here's
a conversion example of a 45rpm record, "I'll Do the Same Thing for You,"
by Johnny Otis (circa 1958) (24 seconds):
| "Do" Before | "Do" After |
The leading needle noise
portion was left on both samples.
3. Following is a segment from the California Ramblers' 1929 Edison Lateral recording of "My Sin" (12 seconds):
| "Sin" Before | "Sin" After |
See? Even sin can be cleaned up (sorry about that).
4. And
now, an LP conversion of The Denver West High School Singing Christmas Tree's
1965 performance of
"A Fanfare for Christmas Day." This was the tree's 25th anniversary
performance (28 seconds):
| "Fanfare" Before | "Fanfare" After |
A great fund-raiser
for community
groups,
a project of this nature is geared toward sales to a large audience,
thereby recovering restoration costs and making a profit. This effort included
18 pieces.
Here's a list of projects.
*(Actual restored files are preserved as .wav files, then converted to .cda format for CD conversion.)
